Second Story Gallery: May Opening

The Second Story Gallery announces the opening of Memento Mori, a group invitational exhibition presenting the work of more than 30 New Orleans-area artists. The exhibition will open Saturday, May 11, with a reception to meet the artists, open to the public, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The cooperative gallery is located in the New Orleans Healing Center, 2372 St. Claude Ave., in the St. Claude Arts District, and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The show will run through June 27. Admission is free.
In Memento Mori, artists explore the fragility of human life, reminding viewers of their mortality through two-dimensional artworks in various media, including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media and collage. Participating artists are April Bachtel, James Barbee, Craig Berthold, Jennifer Brunjes, Sean Clark, Michelle Dashev, Jerry Dupas, Sokari Ekine, Marsha Ercegovic, James Flynn, Kathy Hughes, Whitney Jeffreys, Christina Juran, Kaori Maeyama, Michael Mastrogiovanni, Carlos Neville, Amy Newell, Tomas Orihuela, Anne Michael Pappas, Mary Jane Parker, Antoine Prince Jr. aka Prince, Ellen Rosenberg, Robert A. Schaefer Jr., Noamy Secholer, Benjamin Shooter, Julio Miguel Viteri, Beverly Wallace-Sellers, Christopher White and Megan Wolfkill. Second Story Gallery cooperative members whose works also will be shown are Michael Alford, Ron Bennett, Amy Bryan, Belinda Flores-Shinshillas, Natori Green, Sara “Saharah” Hollis, Gina Laguna, Charles Lovell and Cynthia Ramirez.
The exhibition ends on June 1.
